That group is found in a slight and warm ravine at an altitude of 3500 mts. (11480 Ft.). Besides, the terracing found over here is very impressive, it contains 12 very fertile terraces that are still cultivated, and their retaining walls were built with well carved stones. Even more impressive is the irrigation system that is still serving agriculture and was made taking advantage of the water spring existing in the spot. It has carved stone channels, precisely calculated and sometimes with almost vertical falls that all together constitute a hydraulic engineering master work. Temascal is supposed to resemble a woman’s womb, the same as mother earth’s womb, into which you enter naked and exit purified, it is like being re-born.

Day 9: Mándor

6:00  Meditative hike to the waterfall of Mándor.

This is one of the most appealing destinations of our trip, for the high level of conservation of its scenic qualities, its great variety of flora and fauna, especially birds; the freshness of the valleys surrounded by canyons which will bring us to the  Cataract of Mándor. The hike from the town of Aguas Calientes will be 2 hours. The most surprising event is when we encounter, above the  Willkamayu (Sacred River) to the left of the railroad tracks, an immense granite rock beside the water, which flashes and sparkles with clarity. Preserving a state of serene meditation, one can contemplate the birth of rainbows, and see many distinct colors. Looking towards the south, one can see a part of the sanctuary of Machu Picchu; the sector of platforms, shaped like pyramids. At the top one can see a structure which confirms the true purpose of its design: in some of its angles, one can make out the face of a person in profile, with a feathered headdress on his head, in the attitude of a jealous guardian, the caretaker of the mountain of Huayna Picchu. Arriving at the cabin of  Sr. Alagan, the physical guardian of this area (now passed away) with the permission of his family, we will climb the road leading to the waterfalls through a street, which, possesses its own man assisted natural  beauty, bringing us to the unbelievable crystalline waterfall, which comes descends from the snow capped peaks above. This place is considered to be a trans-dimensional gate, which by means of meditation and chanting, brings one in contact with the rainbow and its seven colors, until we reach a connection with that same Light.  The exuberant and vital vegetation; the sound of the water and an ineffably magical environment accompany us during this exercise.
