Yanahuara - Lares

Description:

A new Andean hiking route, with exceptional views and lanscapes, surrounded with glaciers. We will visit typical Quechua families, learn about their culture and hopefully we will have a chance to see the sheppards and their cattle existing out of lama’s, alpaca’s and learn about their proper techniques of cultivating crops.

Itinerary:

Day 1:

7:00 Pick up from the hotel to take our private bus to the village of Yanahuara, (2850 meter) in the Sacred valley.  (Informative meeting with the guide about the route and last recommendations, the night before departure).

At around 16.00 we will reach the village of Mantay, where we will put our tents for the night.

Dinner (hot soup)

Day 2:

7:00 we will have breakfast and afterwards we will start hiking up to the Sacllaqasa pass at 4460 meters. After this we walk on till we reach the native community of Huacawasi at 3800 meter). We visit the community and will have the opportunity to meet the children of this village and give them some useful presents.

We will stay overnight in tents and have dinner in this village.

Day 3:

7:00 Breakfast. From Huacahuasi we will go on to the village of Lares at 3060 meters, where we will have the opportunity to enjoy the healing hot springs.

Lunch and return to Cusco by private transport.

1 Day ceremonies

7 hours This Inca ritual, which many Andean communities still continue, consists of offering gifts to mother earth in thanks for all that she provides for the people and animals.
7 hours Mother Earth feeds us, cares for us and protects us. The earth supplies us with everything necessary, just as all good mothers care for their children. Humans live within “culture” but we should not forget that essentially it is “nature”.
7 hours Ayahuasca is the "Vine of the Soul", a sacred medicinal power plant, which grows as a vine in the Amazonian rainforest and is a natural psychotropic and hallucinogen.
7 hours The ceremony will take place in Moray, circular terraces in the Sacred Valley. These terraces were used in an agricultural experiment where the Inca’s cultivated corn, quinoa, Panti and Kantu flowers and other plants and flowers.
7 hours Water comes from the God Wirakocha, the creator of the universe, who fertilized Pachamama and allowed the reproduction of life. It is a divinity that is present in the lakes, seas, rivers and all sources of water.

7 hours Temascal is an ancient indigenous tradition in the Americas. It involves a small chamber made from wooden poles and covered with cloth so that its circular interior is totally sealed apart from the door which can also be covered.
