INCA TRAIL

4DAYS /3NIGHTS Inca Trail

Duration:

4 days / 3 nights

Description:

The Inca trail to MachuPicchu is around 42 Kms long and involves three days hiking and one day to visit the sacred Inca citadel.

The trip takes us through some breathtaking scenery; ranging from high snowcapped mountains to leafy forests and throughout we encounter strategically placed Inca ruins.

Day 1:

6:00 a.m. Pickup from your hotel to travel to Km.82 by bus and after we pass the control point we begin the trek along banks of the Urubamba River until we reach the Llactapata ruins where we eat lunch. On the first day we walk for about 6 hours (13 kms approx.). We camp overnight at Wuayllabamba.

Day 2:

The hardest part of the trek is the 16 km. ascent to 4,200 meters, crossing two passes; one of these is Warmiwanusca, the highest point on the trip. The views of snowcapped mountains and the semi-tropical valley below make the climb well worth the effort.

We walk for six to seven hours and visit Runcuracay and Sayacmarca. We camp at Pacamayo.

Day3:

We trek for around seven hours covering a distance of 11 Kms most of it is downhill and fairly relaxed. We will notice the scenery changing as we enter the fringes of the jungle. Along the way we visit the Puyupatamarca and Intipata archaeological sites before arriving at Winayhuayna where we spend the night.

Day4:

- After a very early breakfast we walk for 1 ½ hours to ‘Inti puncu’ (sun gate), the main entrance to the ancient Inca city of Machu Picchu from where we enjoy a magnificent view over the entire complex.

- We then descend for a guided tour of the ruins.
