Description:

Biking / Hiking: Malaga – Santa Maria – Santa Teresa – Aguas Calientes – Machu Picchu.

Itinerary:

Day 1

We set off between 7:30 and 8:00 a.m. enjoying a panoramic view over Cusco as we travel to Ollantaytambo from where we ascend up to Malaga Peak at a height of 4,360 meters.

We leave the bus behind as we mount our bikes and begin the descent, enjoying the beautiful scenery of the immense valley that lies before us. The scenery changes from dry to leafy jungle. Half way down we visit the Inca ruins of Wamanmarka before arriving in Santa Maria where we spend the night in a basic lodge or camping. Dinner and a brief explication of the next days activities rounds off the evening.

Day 2

After breakfast we start our trek along paths full of vegetation where we will observe the cultivation of coffee, cacao, fruits like papaya and mango and also coca. Following the trek we visit the Santa Teresa hot springs where we eat dinner and receive a brief explication of the next day’s activities. Overnight.

Day 3

We set off on the trek at around 8:00 a.m. We cross the Vilcanota River in a hanging basket; one of the most exciting points on the trip. We can also enjoy the spectacular wildlife which includes butterflies, parrots and insects. We eat lunch at the hydroelectric village then continue to Aguas Calientes where we eat dinner and spend the night.

Day 4

5:00 a.m. we climb for about an hour up to Machu Picchu where we enjoy a guided tour of the site. At the designated time we meet in Aguas Calientes to eat lunch and then take the train back to

7 hours This Inca ritual, which many Andean communities still continue, consists of offering gifts to mother earth in thanks for all that she provides for the people and animals.
7 hours Mother Earth feeds us, cares for us and protects us. The earth supplies us with everything necessary, just as all good mothers care for their children. Humans live within “culture” but we should not forget that essentially it is “nature”.
7 hours Ayahuasca is the "Vine of the Soul", a sacred medicinal power plant, which grows as a vine in the Amazonian rainforest and is a natural psychotropic and hallucinogen.
7 hours The ceremony will take place in Moray, circular terraces in the Sacred Valley. These terraces were used in an agricultural experiment where the Inca’s cultivated corn, quinoa, Panti and Kantu flowers and other plants and flowers.
7 hours Water comes from the God Wirakocha, the creator of the universe, who fertilized Pachamama and allowed the reproduction of life. It is a divinity that is present in the lakes, seas, rivers and all sources of water.
