Itinerary:

Day 1: Cusco – Cachora - Chikisca.

We leave Cusco at approximately 4:30 to drive towards the village of Cachora. This will be a 4 hour drive in public bus. In Cachora we will meet up with our horsemen and their mules that will be carrying our equipment.
We will start with the first part of our hike and walk for approximately 3 hours on a fairly easy path until the first lunch stop.

After lunch we will have to walk uphill in order to reach the lookout point of Capulilloc. From here we can see the route we have to walk on the 2nd day, a steep ascending zigzag path.

We now have to walk quite some time downhill until we reach our first campsite called Chikisca, where we will have a nice view on the Apurimac canyon. We have our dinner at the campsite.

Day 2: Chikisca – Santa Rosa – Choquequirao.

After an early breakfast we will continue our way all the way down to the river Apurimac. We will cross the Rosalinas Bridge over the Apurimac River.

From this point we have to start with the hardest part of todays hike, a steep uphill part that leads to Santa Rosa. At Santa Rosa we rest and have a snack. Also we can have a typical refreshing drink of the region, Cambray, a drink made out of cañá, here.

We continue our uphill hike till we reach Marampata, from where we will be able to observe part of the impressive Choquequirao already from a distance. Here we will also enjoy our lunch.

After that we will continue our way till we reach the campsite for the 2nd night, a campsite really close to Choquequirao, where we arrive at around 15.00.

Day 3: Choquequirao.

Visit the archaeological site of Choquequirao, from where we can also enjoy the impressive views over other archaeological Inca ruins that are spread over the whole area and beautiful valleys.

We will have the whole day to explore the site.

Breakfast. lunch and dinner at Choquequirao.

Day 4: Choquequirao - Chikisca

We will wake up before sunset for our breakfast at the campsite and then start our way back, downhill, to the riverbank of the Apurimac where we will cross the Rosalinda’s bridge again. Then we hike uphill till we reach Chikisca, where we will arrive before lunchtime. We will stay overnight at the Chikisca campsite.

Day 5: Chikisca – Cachora - Cusco.

We depart from Chikiska after an early breakfast. We need to walk uphill till the lookout point of Capulilloc and then onward to Cachora.

We will reach the village of Cachora before lunchtime. We will enjoy our lunch in the village and also take a bit of rest before we get on a public bus that takes us back to Cusco.

We will return to Cusco at around 17.00.

1 Day ceremonies

7 hours The ceremony will take place in Moray, circular terraces in the Sacred Valley. These terraces were used in an agricultural experiment where the Inca’s cultivated corn, quinoa, Panti and Kantu flowers and other plants and flowers.
7 hours Water comes from the God Wirakocha, the creator of the universe, who fertilized Pachamama and allowed the reproduction of life. It is a divinity that is present in the lakes, seas, rivers and all sources of water.
